Osteopathy may be the answer you are looking for.
Why do we suffer from pain?
The human body needs to be in balance – balance between the different muscle groups, balance between different joints, balance in pressures and balance between mind and body. An injury interferes with that balance. The solution is to get an osteopathic treatment to restore that balance.
Osteopathy is a philosophy and a system of health care that puts emphasis on treating the person as a whole. We believe that the body has the ability to regulate itself and recover with guidance of the osteopath. The osteopath has deep knowledge of the human body anatomy and function, and of relations between different structures in the human body, which allows them to find the primary cause of the pain. Osteopathy treats the cause, not the symptoms; therefore the pain will be relieved faster.
The philosophy of osteopathy believes that there has to be good alignment between the body structures, and that each structure has its own rhythmical movement. Without the two, there will not be good health.
Recently a first time patient came to us with severe back pain that had initially started 2 days before. He was unable to walk, drive, lift and perform activities of daily living.
A thorough assessment revealed an imbalance between the pelvic bones between right and left. This was corrected in the first treatment. When the patient walked out of the clinic it was obvious that most if not all of the suffering was gone. He was standing much straighter and his movements were more relaxed and with much less pain.
Upon completion of his next treatment his pain had almost completely subsided and he was able to effectively return to doing all his regular activities with little or no further discomfort.
Osteopathic palpation:
The skill of osteopathic palpation is absolutely crucial for a successful treatment. The osteopath learns to “see” with the hands. By gentle and precise palpation, the osteopath will feel dysfunctions within the body. It is used for both assessment and treatment. The osteopathic palpation is a specialized skill that takes many years to develop, and it is what sets osteopathy apart from any other form of manual therapy.
